SAR systems inherently generate highly valuablenavigation data at very high rates. However, thisinformation is usually totally ignored by the platform’sad-hoc navigation system required by SAR dataprocessing methods. On this behalf, a scheme that takesadvantage of SAR data richness in a post processedINS/GPS/SAR integrated navigation method is hereproposed. The new method, not only may considerablyimprove the navigation accuracy, but it also allows forgeo-coding of highlighted points of the scene beingimaged (geo-coding that could easily be propagated to therest of the SAR image) by using only flight data. Potentialapplications are geodesy and geo-location, roads and civilworks, ducts and transmission lines supervision andcadastre. For ease of reading, the article summarizes thebasis of SAR processing.
