A novel preparation method has enabled the manufacture of low-mercury content Zn-Hg doses on inert substrates of various diameters for fluorescent lamps. The characterization of these materials by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) emission spectroscopy is described, and examples of practical dose materials are illustrated.
