Demand responsive transit (DRT) is gradually used in urban cities for meeting passengers' personal traveling demands and improving the accessibility of urban transit systems. As a key issue of DRT system operation, transit route choice optimization is mostly focused by transportation professionals. This paper proposes an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) based multi-objective optimization framework for optimizing the routes of DRT. The optimization objective is to maximize both transit networks coverage rate and transit trip contribution rate, simultaneously. A multi-objective DRT route optimization model is proposed following the rules of time window. Ant colony algorithm is introduced to solve the proposed multi-objective optimization model. Real data from Ningbo City is used for the proposed model calibration and evaluation. The evaluation results indicate the promising performance of the proposed multi-objective optimization model in improving the contribution rate and level of service of urban transit systems.
