These results suggest that although Actifuse? alone could induce ectopic bone formation, combining human Pe-MSCs with Actifuse? granules can significantly enhance bone formation. This could be a new therapeutic strategy to improve bone regeneration for patients. Ion dissolution from Actifuse? microgranules enhanced osteogenic differentiation, as measured by ALP activity, of Pe-MSCs in vitro, and this mechanism may be involved in the bone formation process.
