Fibrinogen- and RGD-coupled Alginate Microcapsules for Encapsulation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells

By designing novel RGD- or fibrinogen-alginate microcapsules we can use the hydrogel matrix properties to encapsulate and protect the cells and also engineer the matrix at the core of the microcapsule to enhance cell viability. It is demonstrated that compared to RGD-coupled microcapsules, fibrinogen-supplemented microcapsules increase cell proliferation and FIX secretion more significantly.
