The modified phenolic resins are prepared by mechanical mixing,using nano-carbon black and carbon nanotubes as additives.Then the modified phenolic resins were mixed in Al2O3-C refractories as binding agent.The results showed that:(1) Different additives and high heat treatment temperature can optimize the microstructure of pyrolytic carbon,making the interlayer spacing (d002) decrease and the mean crystallite size Lc (002) increase; carbon nanotubes have the most significant impact.(2) The physical properties of Al2O3-C refractories are improved by the modified phenolic resins,because of structure modification of pyrolytic carbon.
