Porous calcium stabilized zirconia (CSZ) ceramics with ultra-high porosity and ultra-low thermal conductivity were prepared by direct foaming methods combined with gelcasting.The porosity of CSZ ceramics varied from 66.4% to 84.4% with the addition of foaming agent increasing,while the compressive strength descended from 75.32 MPa to 16.39 MPa and the bending strength descended from 25.84 MPa to 4.79 MPa.The thermal conductivity of the CSZ ceramics with 80.0% porosity was 0.180 W·m-1·K-1 at 400 °C and 0.220 W·m-1·K-1 at 1200 °C.The CSZ ceramics can be applied as insulating refractories at high temperatures due to their excellent insulation properties.
