This contribution outlines the novel processing route of coarse oxide ceramic refractories by pressure slip casting.Several techniques for the product development adapted to coarse grain suspensions are presented comprising the whole chain from rheological characterization over studying the filtration behavior and scale up till the non-destructive examination by X-ray tomography.The fired large bodies showed a high strength,excellent surface quality and negligible gradients due to segregation or sedimentation of the slip.
