APPLICATION OF FDI ABSORBING EFFICIENCY TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: EVIDENCE FROM CHINESE PROVINCES UNDER DEA

The paper expended Malmquist index to establish a theoretical model of FDI absorbing efficiency, which considers the influence of price level by injecting configuration efficiency of inputs and structural efficiency of outputs. Using 1997-2008 data published by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, evaluation of performance index and contract index of FDI absorbing for each province is given from aspects of human capital stock, material capital stock, energy consumption situation and the degree of openness. At last, we use DEA to identify the bottleneck of FDI absorbing efficiency during the peak, bottom and steady periods for each province.
