Electrostatic charging of dielectric powders in gas-solids fluidized beds has received increased attention in recent years, due to its impact on particle agglomeration, dispersion and reactor fouling in polymerization and pharmaceutical processes, and charging and coating uniformity in powder coating processes. This paper provides a critical review on the measurement techniques for characterizing powder charging, distribution of charged powders and the factors influencing the powder electrification in gas-solids fluidization systems.
