Synthesis of Alkali Lignin Aminated Polyol with Mannich Reaction

As a solid waste in the papermaking industry, alkali lignin can be derived easily. Furthermore, scholars pay much attention to alkali lignin because it doesn't contain sulphur. In this study, the alkali lignin was modified with mannich reaction and then the alkali lignin aminated polyol was prepared. In the single factor experiments, mass ratio of diethanolamine to alkali lignin, ratio of formaldehyde to alkali lignin, reaction temperature, formaldehyde addition time, and total reaction time on hydroxyl value were investigated. The result showed that the optimum conditions were as follows: mass ratio of diethanolamine to alkali lig-nin=2, mass ratio of formaldehyde to alkali lignin=1.2, reaction temperature 80 °C, formaldehyde addition time 1 h, and total reaction time 3 h. In addition, the samples were also characterized by Automatic Titrimeter and FT-IR.
