@@ l.Introduction The chemical composition of the buffer affects the power generation of MFC. Buffer sollution can help reduce the change of pH during the progress to provide a suitable environment for bacteria's growing. Phosphate buffer has been widely used in the research of MFC in order to maintain the pH and improve the electrical conductivity of the solution. However, adding phosphate buffer to MFC at a high concentration has two negative aspects, one is the high price of adding more phosphate during the process of treating waste water,the other one is that the discharged effluents without removal phosphates may contributes to the eutrophication conditions of water bodies. Searching an cost-effective buffer solution to replace phosphate buffer is one of our concerns.
