Air power was decisive in preserving the independence of South Korea in 1950-53. As a vital part of the joint and coalition UN air power team, naval aviation contributed significantly to the air power advantage enjoyed by UN forces, particularly in the early "halt phase" operations of 1950-51. Korean air experience transformed naval aviation, accelerating the onset of the precision weapon revolution that manifested itself two decades subsequently.
