To investigate the feasibility of electrodynamic aerobraking in a hypersonic rarefied region, the electrodynamic flow control on a reentry Hayabusa-shape capsule entering a pure nitrogen atmosphere is simulated using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo method (DSMC) with a simple macro-Lorentz force model. The results are compared with the Naiver-Stokes computations of a popular two temperature ther-mochemical nonequilibrium model to validate the simple macro-Lorentz force model. As a results, the generating electrodynamic force is found to be enough strong for the aerobraking.
