The creation of space policies performs great importance both for the countries and for the regional sets. Thebenefits of the creation of this one are important since it there demonstrate the European and Asian examples.This paper seeks to study the reality of a space policy for Latin America from the experiences of the SpatialConferences of the Americas. The analysis is done from the fundamental elements that compose a regionalspace policy: the objectives, the identification of needs and capacities and the organization of the group ofinterested countries. The analysis of theses elements demonstrates that the policy for Latin Americamust be guided by the principle of international space cooperation, the principle of the variable geometry andby the flexibility from an institutional point of view. Finally, the paper makes a contribution respecting theimportance of the effective and prompt creation of a spatial policy for the region, taking into account theevolution in spatial activities of the different regions and the need of an agenda to achieve such purpose.
