REMOTE SENSING AND GIS APPLICATIONS TO BUILD MAP OF LANDCOVER IN CHAN MAY AREA, PHU LOC DISTRICT, THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE

Nowaday, Remote sensing and GIS technology is being used to track and assess the changes of landcover, to manage the natural resources and monitor environment. The remote sensing image data help us to interpret, analyze and assess the changes of landcover with time and space. The Chan May - Lang Co economic area located in southwestern of Thua Thien Hue province, including Lang Co town, Loc Thuy, Loc Tien and Loc Vinh commune of Phu Loc district, has a total area of 27.108 ha. Currently, Chan May - Lang Co has been invested to become one of important and modern industrial trade center of the Central key economic zone and a tourist, resort center stature regional and international. The economic development has brought good results but the reverse side of this development is the impact on natural resources, environment and changes landcover. This article will introduce the mapping result of land cover in Chan May area, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province by using Remote sensing and GIS technology.
