Some employees receive superior performance reviews even when their work is not very much better than that of their teammates, while others do award-winning work but get mediocre reviews. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the difference in performance is often very real, but it is not in what the employees perceive as the core skills for the job; it is in the so-called soft skills.
