In the study, the 1:500,000 aeromagnetic data of Shanxi Fault Basin were processed and interpreted by the means of new developed separation method of potential field based on the multi-resolution wavelet analysis technology and new detection techniques of geologic boundaries. Those techniques were favorable in improving processing accuracy and resolution of potential field data. We redrew the Precambrian basement tectonic units of Shanxi fault basin according to the deep structure information obtained by the artificial seismic profiles data and studied it's structural characteristics. Firstly, we separated the regional aeromagnetic anomalies which reflect the up-and-down characters of Precambrian basement by the multi-resolution wavelet analysis technology in Shanxi fault basin. Then we detected the Precambrian basement structure boundaries by new recognition techniques for potential-field data. Lastly, according to the artificial seismic profiles data, redrawn the Precambrian tectonic units combined the geological and tectonic evolution. The new redrew Precambrian basement structure has much higher resolution and credibility compared with the previous results. The result, in this paper, has great significance to the deep regional tectonic study, the shallow fault basins formation and evolution research controlled by the deep basement structure.
