Steel structure of Wuhan railway station is a hyperboloid large-span syncretic structure. Considering the physical shape of the station and site conditions,large sliding jig and high-altitude in situ erection technology is chosen to be applied in this project after repeatedly comparing with other construction methods. The sliding shall be achieved by hydraulic jack and controlled by a computer simultaneously. The sliding jig is 41.1 meters long,32. 875 meters wide and 52 meters high. A single jig weighs 2740 tons. Remarkable duration management and economic results have been achieved. It is an unprecedented approach both in China and overseas.
