The Promoting Role of High-speed Rail on the Coordinated Development of Regional Economy

China is now facing with problems of large population, scarce resources per capita and uneven economic and social development as well as pressures due to resource shortage and environment deterioration. Building high-speed rail along the main transport corridors in the country will greatly improve the transport capacity, thus in tum will pave the way for the harmonious and sustainable development of regional economy. At the meantime, it will also be in favor of the production factors movement and industry transfer, help optimizing resource allocation and forming of new industry belts, bringing along new innovations and opportunities to the regional economy along the line.
