For the rational exploitation and utilization of energy, a large number of pithead power plants have been founded in many places of China. The safe distance between pithead power plant and open pit slope must been considered when the pithead power plant is located on the open pit slope. Fushun Power Plant is one of the typical pithead power plants are located on the open pit slopes. With the increasing mining depth of open pit mine, deformation of plant area increasingly serious and the safety of the power plant is threatened. By means of analyzing the subsidence data which has been accumulated of the Asian biggest pit and the century pithead power plant, For this area of special geological structure, in a distance of 1100 meters of mine with the border outside the building power plant is a safe, This paper studied the safe distance between pithead power plant and open pit slope to afford reference of power plant site selection
