A research framework was developed as the vehicle to test the inter-relationships among threedifferent motivating laguages (direct-giving, meaning making, and empathetic) and twodecision-making tasks (performance feedback and consulting proposal). Seventy EMBAstudenrts with real worls working expericens were selected as the sample to test this modelframework. Results and managerial implications derived from this sample helps pave thefoundation for further advancement in emerging studies of motivating language in virtual teamsand facilitate developing strategies for more effective communication among members of vitualteams.
