Intensive soil investigations and soil tests were carried out in 2006 for the design of the foundation piles of twelve-storied buildings located in Astana, Kazakhstan. Static vertical load tests were performed in-situ on two RC piles of a square cross section. In order to investigate the correlation between the soil parameters and the load-displacement curves, the load-displacement curves of both tested piles were predicted using the soil data from the soil investigations and the soil tests. In the analysis, the pile was modelled as an elastic column supported by springs which represent the shaft and the tip resistances. The results of the odometer tests were used to estimate the stiffness of the soil springs. Moreover, a CPT was used to estimate the distribution of the maximum shaft resistance down the pile shaft. Good correlation between the calculated load-displacement curve and the experimental one was achieved.
