Improving Access and Use of Imagery using Open and Interoperable Off-the-shelf Technologies

ES RI Inc. has s upported th e "Grou p on Earth Observation Arch itecture I mplementation Pilot", u sing i ts open and interoperable ArcGIS products. At th e heart of its solution is ArcGI S S erver. ArcGI S S erver may b e u sed t o create interoperable services following the specifications from the Op en Geos patial Con sortium. Exten sive experience h as been gain ed i n b uilding catalogs of s tructured metad ata documents. Providing similar discovery capabilities to the vast collections of imager y presents a newsetofch allenges, including p erformance, an d proces sing of co llected image ry. ESRI ArcGIS Server addresses these challenges with its Image extension.
