This paper presents the results of track buckling analyses based on longitudinal stress measurements tests, historical data, field inspections and the influence of track maintenance on track lateral resistance. The buckling analyses were performed using the VErtical Rail Stiffness Equipment-VERSE?-to determine the critical temperatures and probability of buckling risk. The results of the analyses are presented indicating track buckling potential at specific track critical points allowing maintenance gangs plan their intervention into the track doing de-stressing or applying specific maintenance best practices.
