摘要

An extended release formulation of metformin HCl, ahighly soluble model drug, was developed using hydroxypropylcellulose and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. Thesolubility of the drug and the polymer as well as thematrix rigidity influenced the drug release kinetics. Thesoluble additives increased the drug release rate and insolubleadditives delayed the release. The extended drugrelease rate profile can be modulated by using combinationof HPC-H and HPMC matrix system.
