A novel dosage form was designed for two-pulsedelivery of a model drug from the stomach in theform of a plurality of beads. The dosage form isdesigned to be gastric retentive in the human fedmode by means of swelling to a size whichprecludes the dosage form from passing through thepylorus until after a programmed period of time.This two-pulse delivery system is designed to allowfor extended delivery of drugs with extensive andsaturable first pass metabolism.
