摘要

Surface engineering involves modifying the performance of a surface to produce a desired result. [1] For an extruder an increase in the clearance between screw and barrel reduces pumping efficiency which reduces throughput and profitability. Wear resistant materials are applied to screw flights to slow this wear process. Cemented carbides offer superior resistance to abrasive or adhesive wear. A model of productivity comparing cemented carbides and common weld overlay is presented.
