Analysis of Alternative Refrigerant in Water Source Heat Pump System

Water source heat pumps use water in rivers and lakes,groundwater and sewage as their sources.They provide heating or cooling for buildings from low-grade sources at the cost of a small quantity of high-grade energy.Water source heat pump system has been used worldwide in recent decades,and,synthetic refrigerants,such as R22 are mainly used at present.CFCs and HCFCs will gradually be replaced because of high ODP,and their alternative refrigerant HFCs will also be phased out because of high GWP.As a result,many studies focus on refrigerant friendly to environment,such as CO2.This paper analyzes several refrigerants by comparing the natural refrigerant with synthetic ones,discusses the efficiency of different refrigerants and the feasibility of the use of altemative refrigerant on the basis of the result of analysis,and gives some advices.Equivalent temperature method is used during the analysis.COPh for the trans-critical CO2 cycle is higher than that for the sub-critical cycle using synthetic refrigerants such as R22.
