Afield experiment was conducted to explore the possibility of effluents disposal of distillery industry to be utilized as supplements to fertilizers and irrigation water. Bio-methanated distillery effluents with huge quantities of nutrients improve sugarcane productivity, juice quality and augmented nutrients availability and their buildup in effluent treated soil. Distillery effluents decreased pH and increased EC, Organic carbon, CEC and Nutrients availability. CEC, Salt contents and Residual Sodium Carbonate (RSC) decreased at 0-30 and 30-60cm depths with increasing level of effluents.Application of bio-methanated distillery effluents improved soil aggregation and enhanced hydraulic conductivity and infiltration and decreased Bulk density with increasing level of effluents. Microbial population enhanced with the application of effluents. Thus beneficial effects of Bio-methanated distillery effluents were observed on physical, chemical and microbiological properties of soil More fields testing with proper drainage and dilution of distillery effluents is necessary before making specific recommendations. However, diluted effluent application can be economically suitable proposition for the farmers for better sugarcane growth and productivity.
