摘要

Ventila ted core materials are elaborated from entangled carbon fibers. They are studied in this paper for an application as core material for sandwich structure. Core material is elaborated from carbon yam with hand carding, and removing carbon fibers epoxy coating. Carbon/epoxy prepreg is used for sandwich skins. To increase stiffness, fibers need to be cross-linked and epoxy resin is chosen and applied by vaporization. The purpose of this paper is to compare the compressive response of entangled carbon fibers at different compression rate. Results are compared with polymethacrylimide foam and Nomex honeycomb. Energy absorption per unit mass is also compared with these materials.
