In Vitro and in Vivo Evaluations of Microemulsion Formulations of CZ48, Lactone-Stabilized Camptothecin-C20-Propionate, for Transdermal Delivery

Microemulsions (ME) of CZ48 were formulated for transdermal delivery and their in vitro permeation profiles were investigated. The lead formulation was further evaluated in vivo, where it was applied to the nude mice topically. Results suggest the feasibility of transdermal delivery of CPT from a prodrug CZ48-based ME applied topically.
