A Comparison of the Impact of the Implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley Act -Large Versus Small Companies: A Preliminary Report

Since the Sarbanes Oxley Act (also known as SOX) was passed in 2002 many articles have been published in response to the impact the Act has made on many companies across the nation. The purpose of this paper is to find out how the act as affected small and large companies, specifically the Fortune 500 (large) and Fortune 100 (small) companies. A survey instrument was administered in order to find out the factors affecting the. implementation of SOX and to identify existence of any obstacles in the implementation process. Furthermore, we identified differences between small and large companies in terms of the impact of the SOX on these firms.
