摘要

ECCE 2007 is the 25th Anniversary Conference of the European Association for Cognitive Ergonomics, or EACE. For this very special event in the life of European cognitive ergonomics, we have chosen the theme "Invent! Explore!" as a means of shifting our focus this year from a strong emphasis on analysis, to a greater emphasis on the invention and exploration of novel and innovative solutions to cognitive ergonomics problems. We have hoped to give greater prominence to the design of representational forms and of artefacts and solutions. Better still, we hope to place a greater emphasis on how these designs enhance human cognition and decision making, either individually or in collaboration as part of a team. >We were pleased to receive 47 submissions for the long papers category and 28 submissions for the short papers category. All submissions have been reviewed by independent reviewers and meta-reviewed by a member of the conference committee. These reviewers'' reports were discussed in the conference committee meeting where the final decision was taken, considering both the scores given by reviewers and their written comments. Eight clear key themes emerged from the 21 long papers and 15 short papers that will be presented at the conference. They are: >• Methods in Research and Design >• Collaboration >• Support Tools >• Learning and Training >• Input Technology >• Visualisation and Feedback >• Design for User Experiences >• Decision making, Cognition, and Problem Solving >Although not new, these themes are still relevant and important today. They examine how individuals or groups can use artefacts for their work, training or leisure, and how to conduct new type of research in this area. We hope that these themes inspire and challenge delegates in continuing their work in the area of cognitive ergonomics. Also we hope that future readers might find the conference proceedings a valuable resource of information both for academics and practitioners. The introduction of structured abstracts aimed to help the reader as authors could present key elements of their work in a consistent manner. >This conference also hosts a Doctoral Consortium, giving upcoming researchers the opportunity to present their work at a panel of experts and thereby introducing these PhD students into the tradition of participating and presenting work at international conferences. We strongly hope that this new part of the conference will return to future ECCE conferences. >In addition, the conference will also feature a special 25th anniversary programme to celebrate the life and achievements of the Association, its members, and their contribution to the field of cognitive ergonomics over the last quarter of a century. Thomas Green, Norbert Streitz, Jean-Michel Hoc and Gerrit van der Veer, among the founding fathers of the conference series, will join us in a special, celebratory session. This special sessionwill be an opportunity to hear their reflections on the last 25 years of cognitive ergonomics to see what the EACE has achieved and what the future 25 years will mean for cognitive ergonomics.
