摘要

This study resents a comparison of modeled and observed microphysics, electrification and lightning in a low-precipitation supercell that developed over central Oklahoma on 26 May 2004 during the Thunderstorm Electrification Experiment (TELEX), as described by MacGorman (2007). The overarching purpose of this work is to try to understand better how the electrification and both IC and CG lightning behaved during the storms evolution. The primary focus at this stage of the study will be on the general aspects of the simulation of hydrometeors, hydrometeor charging and lightning. The study of this storm is a rare opportunity as so few low-precipitation supercell storms are so well observed through there entire life cycles. Low precipitation supercell storms are enigmatic owing to the rarity of their occurrence.
