A multianual analysis of the littoral drift along the Maresme Coast (Northern Spanish Mediterranean Coast) is carried out. Energetic littoral drift formulas have been applied and validated with historical field data. The study has been conducted in order to design a sand “by pass” system at a marina harbour. The work shows the relevance of the multianual variability of the littoral transport in the definition of the by-pass system and more specifically en the defining of the sand trap.
