Lockheed Martin's Sunnyvale facility operates 4 large thermal vacuum chambers, each having adata channel count in excess of 700 channels. Recently, the data acquisition systems attached tothese chambers were upgraded. The new system was expected to meet an accuracy specificationof +- 1.5 degree C over a temperature range of 200 to -200 degree C. The initial installationfailed to meet this specification for roughly 20 percent of its data channels. This paper discussesthe sources of error that caused the system to fail calibration and how they were addressed.
