Shrapnel, which is different from common cannonball in ballistic trajectory and damage mechanism , is a new type and high efficiency ammunition. How to evaluate and the result of evaluation will effect the use of Shrapnel , also effect the design and backfit of one. Firstly, In this article, it is discussed about the damage area of shrapnel. The damage area of shrapnel is determined by the damage area, the number and the regularities of distribution of sub-shells. sub-shells obey homogeneous distribution in the distribution area. For calculating the damage area of a shrapnel in distribution area of sub-shells, the conception and computational modeling of overlap coefficient and effective coefficient is set ,which is very import to design and use shrapnel. When the number of sub-shell in a shrapnel is very large or a lot of shrapnel is shoot, distribution of sub-shells can be care few about. We can consider the distribution area of sub-shell is the damage area of shrapnel like a common cannonball. Secondly, accidental error of a round about shrapnel is studied. There are three accidental errors when shrapnel is shoot. they are systematic error, distribution error of shrapnel and distribution error of sub-shell. Which determine the deviation value between the actual location of damage area of shrapnel and the theoretic location of one. At last models evaluating damage efficiency of a shrapnel and more is performed. Which can calculating the probability of damage area covering with objects and he probability of objects damaged when object is covered with. All the results of research in this article have been tested.
