This study is concerned with an experimental investigation of the minimum speed and theassociated power consumption to achieve the submergence of floating solids in a stirred vessel. The physical modeling was achieved by using water as the liquid medium and pine woodpellets as buoyant particles. Particular attention was given to the effects of pellet size and pelletload on submergence. Power consumption was found to be increased when larger pellets wereused. Tests performed to the study the load effect showed an increase in the power consumptionwhen the total load increased. A 20% increase in power consumption was required to submergelarger pellet sizes.
