This paper reports CFD and experimental results that show the behaviours of wall confluent jets in a room with regards to the vertical and horizontal spreading on the floor. The flow in wall confluent jets is compared with the flow in displacement ventilation supply. The air distribution index was used to evaluate and compare the ventilation performance for both systems for different room loads. It is concluded that the wall confluent jet has a greater spread over the floor than displacement flow. Also, a wall confluent jet is capable of cooling a room with a heat load more than 35W/m2 which a displacement system is not able to cope with.
