摘要

A new kind of symmetrical pattern grooved journal bearing has been developed which is regarded as anexcellent replacement of ball bearings in the spindle system of a computer hard disk driver due to almost zeronon-repeatable run-out (NRRO) and low noise. The specific requirement of manufacturing performance and precision,which are difficult to be met by common means, is easy to be met by laser processing. This paper introduces theprinciple of Helical Oil Groove on Journal Bearing and device of spiral grooves laser processing. The objective ofthis paper is establish the principles for industrial application of Nd:YAG lasers in Helical Oil Groove cutting.
