Current Status and Developmental Trend ofBioenvironmental and Bioenergy Engineering

摘要

As a profession, bioenvironmental and bioenergy engineering (BBE), which is criticalto the sustainability of the modern world and agriculture, has made great achievement and alsoreceived increased attention over the past decades. However, how can bioenvironmental andbioenergy engineering continuously contribute to the advancement and sustainability of oursociety in 21st century ? The authors look back over a period of nearly 50 years on the pastcontribution of BBE on modern agriculture and rural development worldwide; meanwhile thepresent key areas and issues are proposed and discussed in the paper. Based upon the status,the near future (15 yrs) trends and long term (50 yrs) trends of BBE are predicted, and finallythe long term education issues of BBE in further are also given by the authors.
