Development of Farm Produce Processing in Our CountryMust Emphasize Packaging

This paper briefly reviews the development course of farm produce packaging in Chinain terms of packaging materials, packaging containers and packaging machinery, etc., describesthe role of packaging in farm produce processing, including promotional role and hindrance due topoor packaging.Based on the present status for packaging of tremendous and typical farm produce and processedgoods, the existing problems with packaging in the processing industry of Chinese farm produce,the effect of present status of farm produce food packaging on entrance to supermarkets andexport limit to Chinese farm produce by foreign technical barrier in the aspect of packaging afterentering WTO are analyzed.The demand of development of farm produce processing industry on packaging is predicted, thepromotional role of packaging in farm produce processing is described and it is pointed out thatpackaging must be emphasized to develop farm produce processing.
