The experiments in this paper show the influence of the degree of cross-linking of elastomers on mechanical behavior (DMA curves) using SBR as an example. The degree of cross-linking is adjusted by using different concentrations of cross-linking agents (in this case, sulfur) in the formulation. Temperature-dependent mechanical measurements provide additional informa tion about the elastomer network besides the relationship between the glass transition temperature and the degree of crosslinking. The width of the G? peak and the storage modulus in the rubbery plateau can be used to estimate the sulfur content and the cross-linking density. The storage modulus allows information to be obtained about the structure of the elastomer network.
