Getting good acid diversion in high water cut wells is always achallenge. Relative permeability effects due to high watersaturations will push the aqueous base treating fluid into zoneswith high water cut. This leaves the oil zones untreated andresults in dramatic increases in post stimulation waterproduction.. While many fluid diversion techniques exist, thispaper focuses on the successful application and results of anovel Viscoelastic Surfactant (VES) based fluid used asdiverter in matrix stimulation treatments performed by CNOOCin its Java Sea, Indonesia wells.
