Continuous local resistivity measurements along a plug arecombined with observations by CT-scan during the “plateaux”of a "steady state" procedure, as well as during "unsteadystate" procedures at the end of the drainage or imbibition. Thisimproves the consistency of the description of the experiment,allows the selection of the zones where the fluids are actuallyhomogeneously distributed, and thus the quality of the RI-Swrelationship that can be drawn from these experiments, andwhich may be of paramount importance in the loginterpretation. Identification of non-homogeneous zones canbring some ideas about mechanisms of fluid flow. Following awork on homogeneous Fontainebleau sandstones, examplesare given on heterogeneous carbonates.
