Piroxicam (PX) formed salts with monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and triethanolamine (TEA). The fluxes of the monoethanolamine salt (PX-MEA) and the diethanolamine salt (PX-DEA) from various vehicles across the hairless mouse skin were higher than that of PX. However, the permeation of triethanolamine salt (PX-TEA) was lower than that of PX except from Labrafil~(~R) 2609, Crovol~(~R) A40 and Tween~(~R) 80.
