DEVELOPMENT OF WASTE PLASTICS RECYCLING PROCESS USING COKE OVENS

① It was clarified that the waste plastics recycling process using coke ovens are feasible, where coke, tar and light oil, and gas were collected without affecting coke strength. ② It was found that the yield of coke, tar and light oil, and gas produced from waste plastics carbonization were about 20%, 40%, and 40% respectively. ③ It was found that coke strength (DI, CSR) in the case of 1 mass% waste plastics addition to coal is almost equal to that in the case of no waste plastic addition. ? Waste plastics recycling equipment with a total capacity of 80,000 tons per year started operation in 2000 at Nagoya and Kimitsu works. The equipment is operating smoothly.
