SIMTRANS (Freight Transportation Simulation Model)

The authors have been asked by the French Ministry of Transport, to developa System Dynamics model which could help analyze the dynamics of the French freighttransportation market (Road – Rail – River). A little later, the model was modified and used toanalyze the possible consequences, on that same market, of the Kyoto proposed Emissioncredit policy.Both models are explained here, but in addition we show how an ? ex post ? causal loopanalysis can help, in this context, to have experts understand better the numerous and oftencontradictory simulation results.
