Based on the results of test and analysis of a post-tensioned and shaped space trusses, the following conclusions are drawn. 1) By comparative small post-tensioning force, the feasibility of the proposed method for dome-shaped space trusses has been presented. 2) The nonlinear finite element analysis method can be used in the prediction of shaping formation and the post-tensioning force for dome-shaped space trusses. 3) There is some discrepancy in some of the results between theory and experimenl, due to differences between test model and modeling techniques. The shape formation behaviour needs further investigation. 4) The shape formation process is integral with the erection process, and then these methods over conventional space trusses are economical by eliminating or minimizing the need for scaffolding and the use of high capacity cranes.
